Better Than Sex Chex Mix (Warning: this stuff disappears fast).

This mix took me right back to the Better Than Sex cake my mom used to make. I ran across this recipe from Tablespoon, and let’s just say it lives up to the name. Sweet, salty, chocolatey, and totally addictive—this Chex mix hits all the right spots for a seriously indulgent treat. 

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Chocolate Chex™ cereal
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup Reese’s Minis Peanut Butter Cups
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • ½ cup caramel bits (or chopped regular caramels)
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • ½ cup milk chocolate baking chips (add more if you want extra chocolate)
  • ½ cup vanilla (white) chocolate baking chips
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Measure the cereal into a large, microwave-safe bowl and set aside. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper or foil.
  2. In a microwaveable cup, combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, stirring halfway through, until melted and smooth. Stir in baking soda until dissolved.
  3. Pour the caramel mixture over the cereal and mix to coat evenly. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread mixture onto the cookie sheet to cool for 10 minutes, then break into pieces.
  4. Once the Chex mix is cool, sprinkle the Reese’s minis and marshmallows evenly over it.
  5. Melt the caramel bits with cream in a small bowl, microwaving about 1 minute or until smooth. Drizzle over the mix.
  6. Melt the milk chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth, and drizzle over the mix. Repeat with the white chocolate chips.
  7. While the drizzle is still wet, sprinkle coarse salt over everything.
  8. Refrigerate until set, then break apart and store in an airtight container.
